A Taste for Life

Taste for Life is a four-day holiday that introduces you to the Mediterranean diet as people live it in the Languedoc region of France. Our expert knowledge of the region helps you develop an in-depth understanding of the local culture and gastronomy.

During your stay you will

Venue

 

Our base is the peaceful local vineyard Château Les Fenals about 20 miles north of Perpignan. Les Fenals is about a mile from the family seaside resort of La Franqui and two miles from the vibrant village of Leucate. Les Fenals is where we hold the buffet meals and present the talks on the Mediterranean diet. It is also where our main accommodation is based.

 

 

Programme

Outings run on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and each evening before dinner there's  a short informative talk (with aperitifs!) on the health benefits of the Mediterranean diet.

Sunday - we collect you from Perpignan airport before a welcoming wine  reception with buffet of regional  foods.

Monday  morning - cookery lesson at our base, Les Fenals, with meal to follow. In the afternoon, we meet local food producers and sample their wines,  shellfish  (especially oysters) and honey.

 

Tuesday morning - we visit  the olive  coopérative l'Oulibo. Lunch is at the excellent restaurant  of Fontfroide followed by free time to visit Fontfroide abbey or stroll in the magnificent countryside (right) .

Wednesday - we take a guided tour of the new interactive wine museum near Gruissan  with a fun lesson in wine tasting. Lunch is in the picturesque fishing village of Bages with time to explore the village and salt lakes. In the evening there is a  farewell  reception with  buffet.

Thursday - we drive you to Perpignan airport and see you off.

We can also arrange accommodation for participants wishing to extend their holiday.

Special introductory price £295 per person

The price includes :

• Accommodation at a local vineyard (self-catering gite or rooms)*. Alternative accommodation can be arranged in a beachside hotel for a £10 supplement per person per night or in village B&B.
• Transfers to and from Perpignan airport (selected flights), plus all transport during your stay
• All meals except Monday and Tuesday evenings
• All  visits, talks and wine-tasting lesson, with bilingual guide
• Cookery lesson with a local chef
• Interactive multimedia presentations from Mediterranean diet expert Dr. Richard Hoffman

Participants buy their own budget flights with Ryanair to Perpignan airport, and take out their own travel insurance.
